First ladies applaud ACHAP
28 Jun 2019
First ladies of Botswana and Rwanda have applauded ACHAP for promoting good health in Africa.
The duo of Ms Neo Masisi and Ms Jeannette Kagame visited ACHAP offices in Gaborone today.
Ms Masisi expressed her delight at the achievements of youth who were mentored by ACHAP. She applauded the youth for self upliftment and commended them for being influencers in their communities.
For her part, Ms Kagame said her visit to ACHAP afforded her an opportunity to learn from the organisation.
She indicated that ACHAP programmes were similar to those of her foundation.
Ms Kagame’s foundation dubbed Imbuto, focused on providing a holistic approach for dignified lives of families, including women infected with HIV during the genocide against the Tutsi. Imbuto Foundation also embraced more programmes over the years and embarked on new fields of activities through programs in health, education, youth and economic empowerment.
Meanwhile, ACHAP board chairperson, Dr Edward Maganu, noted that the visit by the first ladies came at an opportune time since they would share and learn from them. Dr Maganu said at ACHAP they value sharing and receiving feedback as it helps to improve their programming for population health in Botswana, the continent and the rest of the world.
Dr Maganu also indicated that the state visit by Rwandan President Mr Paul Kagame to Botswana will cement relations between the two countries.
And in the same breath, Dr Maganu said the visit to ACHAP by Rwandan First Lady Ms Kagame will strengthen further the relations with civil society organizations in Rwanda. Ends
