Kgomo-Khumo comes to fruition

Kgomokhumo, Botswana Police Service’s anti-stocktheft operation, which was launched in Ghanzi on May 28, is bearing fruit, Ghanzi District Council chairperson, Mr Galetlhaole Sixpence has said. 

Addressing, Ghanzi District Council on June 25, Mr Sixpence said to date, 14 stock theft cases were registered, while 20 suspects were arrested and seven were still on the run. 

He appealed to farmers to brand their livestock at a tender age and to report any missing livestock at the earliest possible opportunity to ensure timely resolution of livestock cases. 

Regarding registration for the general elections, he said 13 941 and 13 080 voters had registered in Ghanzi South and North respectively, which was a significant increase from the 2014 where 10 687 and 9 156 registered in the constituencies respectively. 

He said 177 cases of objection to registration were brought before the magistrate court and the court had since resolved three out of four cases, involving 76 objections out of the 177 people and the one involving 101 people is still pending, to be presided over on the 3rd July 2019. 

Mr Sixpence also told the council that the recruitment committee for poll staff had been set up and was ready to execute its duties. Ends
