Over 300 learners receive gifts of school bags

The office of Vice President Mr Slumber Tsogwane in conjunction with Furn Mart has donated a total of 336 school bags to two junior secondary schools in the Boteti area.
Meant to help learners in preparation for the upcoming Junior Certificate examinations, 130 and 206 school bags to Form Three pupils at Makalamabedi and Mopipi junior secondary schools respectively.
Speakers at the presentation of the school bags at the schools, also gave the pupils words of encouragement, chief among them being the need to yield positive results with a view to putting their schools on the map in terms of performance.
Relaying a message from the second highest office in the land, private secretary Mr Moses Boile, encouraged the learners to prepare thoroughly for the examinations in order to please Mr Tsogwane, who was reportedly concerned about poor school of schools in the area.
Mr Boile preached positive mental attitude arguing that opting for the opposite would only yield poor results for both students and the schools.
Positive mental attitude would always lead to finding solutions to difficult problems, he said.
He said they were not only the future of Botswana, but of the whole planet.
To parents, Mr Boile said they should teach their children the values they should live by and to take a keen interest in their children’s education as well as to routinely check their academic performances.
He further appealed to parents to assume care and safekeeping of school material in the custody of their children.
To teachers, Mr Boile said they should keep believing that their current working conditions would improve.
He said their situation would be addressed by the current government which sought to leave no one behind.
Mr Boile pointed out that private partners in education needed to come on board with a view to holistically improving school results.
He challenged companies and organisations to emulate and even surpass Furn Mart.
For her part, Furn Mart’s national sales manager Ms Tsogang Modimakwane encouraged students to commit to studying in order to carve a future they desired.
She said the company’s contribution was for the betterment of school results.
Mopipi JSS school head, Ms Khumo Phori enumerated a myriad of challenges besieging the school especially shortage of water which negatively impacted on teaching and learning.
She also complained about negligence on part of some parents who allowing their children to bunk and skip school.
However, the school head said that with their recent interventions as well as parents’ involvement, the school was poised to perform exceptionally well.ENDS
