LKC trounces Naledi
23 Jun 2019
Livingstone Kolobeng College (LKC) Rugby team continued to prove their mettle as they beat Naledi Senior Secondary School 42-17 in a Botswana Integrated Sports Association (BISA) pre-zonal game played in Gaborone on Saturday.
The results meant that LKC has marched to the zonal finals unbeaten after winning all their games against Mogoditshane, Naledi and Molefhi secondary schools. During the game, LKC dominated throughout the game capitalising on their opponent’s poor defence and passing the balls.
Their porous defence gave LCK players amongst them Lame Botha, Wedu Fidzani and Levias Ellwood more space to attack them. Despite winning most of the scrums, Naledi senior failed to fully utilise them giving LKC opportunity to attack them and converting their chances.
Naledi coach, Tiroyaone Segwe was equally disappointed with his player’s performance, as he said in an interview that they gave their opponent too much respect on the field.“My players were not determined and they gave away the game easily. They lost a lot of ball due to lack of morale,” he said. LKC coach, Dent Patrick said they won the game because his players used their structure to their advantage and disorganization from their opponents. He said their plan coming into the game was to continue with their winning streak, adding that their expectation was that his players would also play to their fullest ability in the next round.
In the other game played in the girls Under 17, Maruapula school beat Nanogang 10-5 to proceed to the next stage.
Meanwhile, BISA South Central zonal coordinator, Ernest Molapong said he was happy that the rugby games went on as planned despite some challenges. ENDS
