Tsogwane donates kraal material to Motlopi residents

Residents of Motlopi have praised the country’s leadership for responding positively to the community concerns.

Residents on June 21  received kraal material from the Vice President, who is also their area MP, Mr Slumber Tsogwane.

He donated 47 gum poles  for renovation of a holding kraal which would be used to keep cattle as evidence for customary court cases and also to hold cattle when residents sell for slaughter.

Handing the material, the Vice President explained said government was committed to addressing community concerns. He noted that  the community submitted their request to his office in March this year and he found it fit to assist as per the request.

Mr Tsogwane said the donation was indication that the government cared for the community’s welfare noting that he had also handed over furniture to pre-school pupils at Kumaga Primary School following the request.

He said some elderly people from Boteti received blankets from different organisations and thanked the donors for joining hands with the government to improve the livelihoods of Batswana.

The Vice President said it was pleasing that private sector collaborated with the government to demonstrate love and care towards the community because government alone could not win. 

Mr Tsogwane thanked the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Ms Bogolo Kenewendo for joining forces with him in an effort to drive developments in the constituency. He said the minister continued to play a critical role in assisting the community as she recently donated education material to schoolsPrivate secretary to the vice president, Mr Moses Boile explained that they received a letter from Village Development Committee on behalf of the communities requesting gum poles to construct a community holding kraal hence the hdonation.

He concurred with the Vice President that government was committed to addressing challenges faced by the communities and driving community development projects. On other issues, Mr Tsogwane expressed concern about disturbing incidents where Batswana lose lives due to elephant attacks. He cited two recent incidents, one in Gunotsoga in Ngamiland district and one in Kutamogoree lands in the Central District. He extended condolences to the families of the deceased. 

Mr Tsogwane assured residents that government would continue finding ways to address the issue of human/wildlife conflict to ensure safety and protection of the communities’ livelihoods.

He said the lifting of the hunting ban in a controlled manner was another intervention and urged the communities to be cautious at all times, to reduce chances of elephant attacks. ENDS
