Tsetse appreciates departments initiative
20 Jun 2019
Government departments in the South East District have been commended for taking services to the Otse community.
The commendation came from Otse chief, Kgosi Mothusi Tsetse, during a taking-services-to-the-people activity in the village.
He said civil servants were vital for bringing services to communities as well as for sharing information about available government amenities.
The chief therefore encouraged residents to take advantage of the initiative and interact with public service employees to better their lives.
He commended office of the district commissioner for the initiative, the first to be undertaken in Otse, adding that previously only Malete Land Board and the Department of Civil and National Registry had undertaken the initiative.
Kgosi Tsetse said residents had been forced to travel to either Lobatse or Ramotswa to access services.
He observed that the initiative brought almost all government departments together to offer services at once.
Kgosi Tsetse said he was hopeful that the initiative would be continued as it was of great benefit to the people of Otse.
Deputy district commissioner, Mr Boammaruri Otlhogile said the motive was to bring services closer to the Otse community.
He said those who had been promised benefits under different government empowerment schemes such as the Poverty Eradication Programme should take advantage of the initiative and follow up.
Mr Otlhogile said those who have been assisted and need further assistance were at liberty to plead with relevant officials.
Among the government departments which participated in the initiative were the Department of Forestry and Range Resources, Ministry of Youth Sport and Culture Development, Department of Immigration and Citizenship, Department of Gender Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture Development and Food Security.
