Moshupa Sub-district qualifies for SADC Forum

Moshupa Sub-district will represent Botswana at the Southern African Development Community (SADC) gender forum scheduled for South Africa in November.
This came after the sub-district won the national SADC Gender Protocol Awards, which were contested by all 16 councils.
Speaking in an interview, Moshupa Sub-district gender focal person, Ms Veronica Nkganetsang, said they managed to win at the national summit through projection of their programmes, especially those that enhanced local economic development and incorporated gender mainstreaming.
She said even though they were the country’s champions, there was need to prepare for the tough competition at the regional level, where they would face off with other countries in the SADC region.
“We have to prepare further by using the judges’ remarks to perfect our presentation and also to provide more evidence on the programmes that have helped people to fight poverty.
Therefore, we have a big task ahead as we get ready for the SADC summit,” she said.
Chairperson of the Southern District Council, Mr Alec Seametso applauded the team for not only representing the district, but for booking the country a place at the regional summit.
He attributed the win to teamwork, which he said should be the basis of all service providers on daily basis.
“Teamwork looks beyond challenges at hand, so I challenge all public officers to use the challenges as motivation to achieve more,” he said.
Mr Seametso also urged service providers to use the limited resources to achieve more, despite the challenges they face. ends
