Ramothokgwana laid to rest

Office of the President employee, Ms Lingiwe Ramothokgwana, was laid to rest in Kanye on June 15.
Senior government officials including the Minister of Basic Education, Mr Bagalatia Arone, attended the funeral.
Ms Ramothokgwana worked as personal secretary to senior manager and had served for 29 years in the public service.
She served diligently under the education ministry before joining the Ministry for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration.
Various speakers at the funeral described the 50-year old Ms Ramothokgwana as a humble, dedicated, respectful and hardworking individual who had abundant love for her job and people.
Delivering a message of condolences on behalf of the President, Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi, Southern District acting district commissioner, Ms Gloria Letsholo, expressed sincere condolences to the family.
“On behalf of the government, my family and my own behalf as the President of the country, I wish to express my sincere condolences to the family of Ramothokgwana,” read the message.
Ms Ramothokgwana began working for government in 1992 as a typist at the Ministry of education, where she was later promoted to the position of a senior typist in 1995.
“She was later sent for further studies at Botswana Institute of Administration and Commerce, upon which she graduated in 2007,” part of the message read.
Ms Letsholo indicated that Ms Ramothokgwana was then transferred to Department of Information Services in 2011, where she was then again promoted and transferred the following year, to work at the Office of The President as an executive secretary, the position which she occupied at the time of her demise.
Delivering the message of condolences on behalf of the Minister Nonofho Molefhi, deputy permanent secretary at the Office of the President, Ms Boikhutso Botlhole expressed sadness on the passing of Ms Ramothokgwana.
“I wish to express my sincere condolences to your family. May God Almighty give the family strength and peace during this difficult times,” she said.
She noted that Ms Ramothokgwana devoted life to public service, adding that she always did her work with diligence and high degree of professionalism.
“We have lost a great champion, a wonderful person and a dear friend. Her contribution will never be forgotten,” she said.
Ms Ramothokgwana is survived by her husband, four children and five siblings. ends
