Miscellaneous must dream big - Merafhe
15 Aug 2013
Former vice president, Lt Gen. Mompati Merafhe has urged Miscellaneous officials to dream big and plan for the future.
For the team to prosper, Lt Gen Merafhe said officials should have good plans and always seek advice on how best to run the club. He was responding to the club’s chairman report on the progress of the club during a meeting recently.
He further told the officials that the six hectare plot at Konyana ward was big enough to have a state of the art facility. “All you need to do is to plan and find ways of raising funds to see to it that structures are erected on that plot.”
He also called on the officials to take the club to the people of Serowe so that there would be some sense of ownership by the residents who might also help the club. Lt Gen. Merafhe further stated that the team should expeditiously follow up on pledges made by some members of the public.
He then offered to follow up on a pledge made by Serowe North West MP, Tshekedi Khama of buying the team a mini bus
In his report the chairperson, Oscar Sefhako told the elders that the team wished to change its strategic plan to make it more relevant to today’s sport, which was business orientated.
Sefhako also gave feedback on the club’s relocated home ground to Palapye and the new offices offered for free by one of the elders and business man Motswasele Ratshosa. “We have also singed some new players whom we think would help us maintain a good status in the league,” he noted.
Sefhako further explained the challenges they faced in terms of developing their six hectare plot in Konyana ward citing funds as the major hindrance to its development. Meanwhile, Ratshosa said he offered his offices to the team as a way of his social responsibility and to develop sport.
He said the team shall use the offices for an indefinite period of time and adjustments shall be made when the need arises.
“Sport plays a major role in curbing delinquency so I found it fit to be part of something that would serve the society well,” he said. Ends
