President Dr Mokgweetsi ‘Sisiboy’ Masisi’s substitution on the dying minutes of the second half was a little too late to help Cabinet football club secure an equalizer in the closely contested match.
The loss handed Accounting Officers’ their first victory in the history of the meeting between the two sides.
Surging forward and looking for an equalizer Cabinet FC coach, Vincent Seretse, threw in Sisiboy who assumed a more attacking role after replacing Eric ‘Hardrock’ Molale.
Sisiboy delivered a pass into the opponents’ danger area but indecisiveness from his teammates costs them the golden chance. He was soon substituted for the speedy Frans Van Der Westhuizen.
Accounting Officers started the well-attended match on the front foot, pressuring Cabinet to retreat thus opening gaps in the middle of the park where their star midfielder Kabelo ‘Kempes’ Ebineng dictated terms with his accurate and stylish passing.
However, Cabinet were the first to break the ice after star striker, Shaw ‘Futhifuthi’ Kgathi, intercepted a back pass and slotted past an advancing Accounting officers shot stopper Thatayaone Dedede.
The goal injected life into Cabinet attacking trio of Slumber ‘Slumbsito’ Tsogwane, Bagalatia ‘Tinytot’ Arone and winger Thapelo ‘Dj Tips’ Olopeng.
They started making inroads into the Accounting officers’ half and were nearly rewarded after Slumbisto’s blistering run into the box. Sadly he placed his well taken shot off the desired target. Moments later Slumbisto almost doubled cabinet’s lead but Dedede blocked his hard and low scorcher.
After a couple of brilliant combination play in the middle of the park Ebineng took a long drive towards goal but Fidelis Molao standing in the last line of Cabinet defence came to the rescue.
Accounting officers kept up the pressure and had a penalty claim after Moiseraele Goya appeared to have tripped their striker. Referee pointed to the spot and Ebineng stepped up to level matters.
Molao failed to deal with a decent shot from Ernest Phiri and the Accounting Officers took the lead.
Cabinet took the lead after Slumbisto’s cracking shot was deflected into play and was met by Arone to level matters.
A curling out footed strike from outside the box from Boipolelo Khumomatlhare was the last goal that handed Accounting officers the much needed bragging rights. ends
