Service delivery has been described as an important factor in the delivery of  quality assistance offered by government to Batswana.

Speaking during a service delivery day commonly known as ‘taking services closer to people’ on June 12, at Dutlwe in the Kweneng District, Mr Onkabetse Ntswetswe, sub-district HIV/AIDS coordinator said Batswana deserved to enjoy the services provided by government.

He said taking services closer to them therefore helped in according all Batswana an opportunity to enjoy the services in one place at a time, when government departments come to the village to provide such services.

Mr Ntswetswe further said the objectives of the initiative led by the office of the district commissioner in Letlhakeng were to visit different villages in the sub-district and bring services with them so that they easily access them.

He said in the previous visits, they had realised that the initiative remained valuable in reaching out to different communities as residents easily access such services, which they may have failed to get due to distance.

He therefore urged the residents to put to good use the availability of different departments who come to assist them by listening to their advices, and asking questions to get more understanding on services being provided.

He implored government departments to listen to residents and be willing to help those who need help and urged those who need further enquiries to visit the stalls where officers stand ready to assist.

In his welcome remarks, Kgosi Martin Puleng of Dutlwe said they were happy to see many government departments in the village with the aim to bring services to the residents.

He said the event was an opportunity not to be missed.

Among departments that visited the village were District Health Management Team, Department of Youth, veterinary office, Independent Electoral Commission, education, social welfare and Self Help Housing Agency. ENDS
