Orange Botswana on June 11 unveiled the FA Cup trophy that will be lifted by either Orapa United or Township Rollers in Francistwon on June 15.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony in Gaborone, sponsorship coordinator at Orange Botswana, Mosarwa Molema said the FA Cup tournament was different as it aims to bring the community together to enjoy the game of football.

He said the other aim of the tournament, was to also help teams identify talent, and in the process promote grassroots development across the country.

Further, he said the tournament affords football teams across the national leagues, the opportunity to win the ultimate prize.

He pointed out that there was a blended steel shaft in the cup, which represents the merging of different divisions within the Botswana Football Association.

In addition, he said the golden ball at the top of the shaft in the trophy, was symbolic to Orange Botswana’s ambition of contributing to the elevation of local football.

A planetary ring that surrounds the ball, he said represents football supporters who represents the 12th player, saying the game was not complete without suppoters.

“These are the ultimate guardians and custodians of the beautiful game and their support holds local football in place,” he said.

BFA representative, Senki Sesenyi thanked Orange Botswana for sponsoring the tournament as well as all the teams that participated in the competition. ENDS
