Netball sensation, Cheludo David will attend a three-month trial in Australia.
David, who leaves for Australia on June 7, was instrumental during the Netball Youth World Cup, which was held in Botswana in 2017.
Speaking at a farewell ceremony in Gaborone on June 5, Minister of Agriculture Development and Food Security, Fidelis Molao said David was not only going to Australia for herself, but she would be representing the country as well.
“We can encourage you all we want, but it is upon you as an individual to make the most out of it and change your life for the better,” he said.
He encouraged David’s family to give her the necessary support and counselling services that she might need as she would be unleashing her full potential in a foreign continent.
David on the other hand, extended her gratitude to sponsors and promised to make Batswana proud in Australia.
David’s career started in 2015 and has won several medals such as silver in the Under 20 Africa Union Sport Council Region 5 Games, which were held in Angola in 2016 as well as a silver during the Botswana Games in 2015.
In 2016, she took part in the Under 21 Africa Netball World Cup Qualifiers and the Under 21 Netball World Youth Cup. ENDs
