Masisi to tour Silicon Valley
02 Jun 2019
President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi will visit San Francisco, where he will be taken on a tour of Silicon Valley; the global centre for technology and home to such companies as Apple and Google.
President Masisi’s visit is in pursuit of his vision of a society that is anchored towards greater dependence on knowledge and a highly skilled society, an agenda he set for himself during his inauguration address.
He is expected to visit a mid-market tech office to appreciate how a community that was once anchored on agriculture was able to transform itself into one of the world’s most respected tech space.
President Masisi will also visit Stanford University’s business institute, design school, and production realisation lab to appreciate De beers partnership with the institute.
The partnership has currently facilitated for about 20 young Batswana to go through the GO TO MARKET programme for start-ups and entrepreneurs boot camp while more are expected to benefit through The SEED programme.
The Programme is an initiative of the Stanford Graduate School of Business aimed at contributing to poverty eradication strategies in developing economies. ENDS
