Mogorosi Junior Secondary School students in the Central District on May 31 received school uniform from Serowe Bible Life Ministries.
The donation included school tracksuits and socks, Bibles and appreciation certificates to all stakeholders who attended the ceremony.
Various government and non-governmental departments also held a career fair for the students under the theme, ‘Career Development: Sowing a Seed towards a Bright Future.’
Presenting the gifts, Bible Life Pastor Billy Chanda encouraged pupils to take their education seriously, emphasising that education was the only achievement that no one could steal from them.
He further said in discharging its social responsibility, the church was in line with its Vision of Human and Social Development.
Pastor Chanda highlighted that the tracksuits would help the students during the winter season and also encouraged them to work hard and believe in themselves.
He also encouraged them to remain committed, have confidence, botho, self-esteem and turn to Christianity for success.
In addition, he urged recipients to take time to introspect on their lives as individuals and see if they were living the life stipulated in the Bible.
‘’Students need a classroom environment that is safe, where they are willing to take risks and struggle. To achieve this goal, the students, parents, teachers and the community at large must work together towards common collective goals,’’ he said.
According to Pastor Chanda, students should be willing to assist other students in class, adding that struggling was part of the learning process.
He noted that the donation complemented government’s vision and goal of improving the lives of citizens.
Furthermore, Pastor Chanda encouraged the students as well as the staff to befriend God, so he could provide for them.
Receiving the gifts, school head Ms Uyapo Samuel commended Bible Life Ministries for their compassion towards the pupils and honouring the promise they made during their first visit.
Ms Samuel noted that the management and pupils were grateful for the gifts and appreciated the gesture, adding that proper school uniform would motivate students.
She stated that their visionary leadership and the sacrifices they endured in pioneering and steering the ministry was for the common good.
The school head appreciated the role played by Bible Life Ministries in capacitating Batswana at its own costs.
She said better things would happen to Mogorosi if all people worked together as one and contributed to the children’s welfare to help enlighten their moods.
Ms Samuel requested the children to appreciate the work that was being done for them and also be loving and kind towards one another so they could be able to grow in the faith.
She added that parents should also be a part of the children’s life and not leave it to the school.
Ms Samuel also appreciated all efforts from all stakeholders who donated to the school as it helped build a strong school for everyone and also gave the staff motivation in their everyday duties.
She said they achieved some of their dreams and remained hopeful that more blessings were coming their way.
Outlining the day’s objectives, the school deputy headteacher, Mr Oabile Letsapa said the Bible states that “blessed is the hand that giveth than the hand that receives,” noting that they were blessed to be receiving the gifts.
Mr Letsapa thanked Bible Life Ministries for their good faith and all stakeholders who participated in the school career fair.
He explained that Bible Life Ministries had in the past, donated textbooks, Mathematical instruments and calculators to students.
He urged them to continue the journey with the school to motivate students.
He said the school had done badly academically, as it obtained 31 per cent out of 87 students who sat for the examinations.
He said all should come together and strive to look for better ways to improve such performance.
Various government department and non-governmental displayed their stalls at the school. ENDS
