Unik construction builds two houses in Rasesa

The Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Nonofo Molefhi, says government appreciates Unik Construction Engineering company’s donation of two houses to the less privileged.
Speaking at the handover ceremony in Rasesa, Mr Molefhi said it was heart-warming that the company found it fit to help the less fortunate members of the society.
He said it was exemplary for Unik Construction Engineering to undertake causes of social responsibility in the community they did business in.
“We are cognizant to the fact that you undertook this initiative having been moved by feelings of compassion, love and kindness,” he said, adding that such a gesture would go a long way in giving dignity to the benefactiaries.
He indicated that the company was exhibiting some of the pillars of the nation amongst them botho, development and unity.
Mr Molefhi said it was important for companies operating within Botswana to give back to the community.
“This is not just for today and I hope as you continue to be awarded government tenders in future, you will avail yourselves to provide a helping hand in the community where you are based,” he said.
Furthermore, Mr Molefi said the Office of the President had established a Presidential Housing Committee, which would remain under his ministry For his part, Unik Construction Engineering deputy general manager, Mr Yun Sun, said they were willing to give to Batswana.
He said as a localised company, Unik had contributed to the development of Botswana over the past 22 years.
“The company has delivered a wide range of projects for Botswana government. We appreciate the stable and excellent investment environment provided by government so we have the opportunity of growing together with Botswana,” he said.
Mr Sun further noted that Unik Construction Engineering had embarked in many charitable programmes, something that made it part of the community.
“Building and refurbishing some houses is a way of giving back and thanking the community for its support and patience with us,” he said.
Speaking on how they came to build the two houses in Rasesa, Mr Sun said with the help of Councillor Daniel Molokwe of Rasesa and Village Ddevelopment Committee members, they identified two families in the community that needed shelter.
“We are staunch supporters of community service; through community service we are able to give back to various communities and make the world a better place for all of us,” said Mr Sun.
He said Unik Construction Engineering wasstill working on formation of Unik Charitable Trust, so that they could do more for underprivileged people.
“Unik is determined to focus on promoting and supporting community in health, nutrition, education, social development, culture and economic advancement by providing funding, resources, skills development, facilities and necessary enabling environment for their success,” he concluded.
Cllr Molokwe thanked Unik Construction for its continued support of local initiatives.
“Throughout their stay here in Rasesa they have been helping us with various projects such as grading of school grounds and providing equipment to dig burial graves,” he said.
Ms Mmaleshwane Segolo and Khutsafalo Segodi were the two beneficiaries who received a two-bed-roomed house with a kitchen, sitting room and pit latrine.
