Development processes take long - Muzila
28 May 2019
The desire to conclude all initiatives that the Francistown City councillors came up with has proven impossible as they convened the last but one meeting of the council session before the general election.
Addressing City of Francistown full council meeting, Mayor Sylvia Muzila said that they were now at a point where they needed to wrap and complete business so that the next team could continue effectively from where they left.
“Of course, we have the desire to complete all of them, but because we are only granted five years for the term, it becomes a challenge because the development processes take a long time,” she said.
Ms Muzila was optimistic that they would end their term leaving the city in a better condition than it was before.
She said that they did not always agree, but their differing views showed how well they represented their constituents as tough decisions had to be made.
The Mayor noted that their passion for developing Francistown had always united them and as a result there had been remarkable progress in achieving the realisation of Vision the city’s 2022, the National Vision 2036, issues of Global Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Regarding Vision 2022, Ms Muzila highlighted that only three years were left to reach the set target to have attained their dreams of being ‘The City of All Things Precious’.
Mayor Muzila reminded the councillors about their vision to be the investment centre of vibrance, adding that although they might not have fully achieved some of the objectives, a lot had been done.
Furthermore, she informed the house that she had requested that they be updated on their vision progress so that they could appreciate it.
He noted that it was critical that they internalise the vision so that they could confidently encourage their communities to be part of this Vision 2022.
In addition, she reiterated that the city was ready to host Special Economic Zones. ends
