Govt spends less on project

Gaborone- Boatle road project, which is 95 per cent complete, has cost P874 million against a budget of P1 billion.
Department of Roads’ communications manager, Ms Doreen Moapare, said in an interview that construction of the dual carriageway was awarded to CCC and CSCEC joint venture on March 24, 2017.
She said government approved additional works on the project such as the construction of a bus rank at Boatle and an interchange at St Joseph’s junction.
The additional works, according to Ms Moapare, would be completed in February 2020.
Ms Moapare said construction of Mokolodi access road, which formed part of the main works, had been granted by the Department of Environmental Affairs after it was halted due to legal disputes.
The road would be carried out for six months and also fell within duration of the construction of the St Joseph’s interchange.
Furthermore, Ms Moapare said Boatle interchange was almost complete, hence opening for use on May 27.
However, road users would be expected to follow signage for easy flow of traffic as well as avoid road accidents. Ends
