Presidential housing appeal still exists

27 May 2019

The Vice President, Mr Slumber Tsogwane, says the Presidential Housing Appeal is still in existence and operating under Office of the President.

He said this when handing over a house worth P130 000 to Ms Sekgobokano Moilamashi in Xere on Friday.

He set the record straight following allegations that the programme would operate under office of the former president.

Mr Tsogwane indicated that the allegations stirred confusion amongst the public and donors, adding that some did not know where to channel their support.

He implored the public to continue pledging support towards the programme saying there was still need to do more to uplift lives of underprivileged members of the society.

Mr Tsogwane commended Bayport Financial Services, which built the house, for demonstrating compassion and caring spirit towards Moilamashi family.

The gesture, he said, enhanced the family’s dignity and would go a long way in upgrading the family status.

Bayport executive chairperson, Mr Father Maphongo, said it was important to restore the dignity of underprivileged members of society.

Ms Moilamashi, he said, was identified by the Vice President who requested assistance for her.

The house would protect her family from harsh weather conditions and implored her to take good care of it a.

Mr Maphongo called for more pledges from the public to assist the family, which comprised 12 family members.

He stated that Bayport was committed to making a difference in the lives of Batswana, regardless of their location. ends
