Lotsane Class of 99 donates desks to school
27 May 2019
Lotsane Senior Secondary School Class of 1999 has donated 50 new and 40 restored desks to their former school.
Member of Parliament for Palapye, who is also the Assistant Minister of Tertiary Education, Research Science and Technology, Mr Moiseraele Goya, said what the class of 99 did needed to be recognised and commended.
He said the former pupils found it fit to raise funds for the desks, thus contributing to the country’s education, adding that desks would encourage and motivate pupils to do their best.
Mr Goya said the donation was in line with the ‘Adopt a School’ initiative introduced to encourage the private sector and other stakeholders to select a school to assist when there was need and resources permitting.
He said it was also in line with the Public Private Partnership (PPP) programme, where stakeholders from the private sector, collaborated with government entities to bring developments.
He expressed hope that the new desks would encourage the pupils to take their education seriously and work hard.
For her part, deputy school head, Ms Boago Senosi encouraged the Class of 99 to continue assisting the school with whatever they could, because it was currently facing a challenge of shortage of funds for class and office furniture among other things.
She said as government was facing financial challenges, such donations could not go unmentioned.
She stated that Lotsane Senior Secondary School had been among the top 10 in the country in 2016 and 2017 and improved to among the top five in 2018.
She said their aim was to improve the standard to position one in 2019. Ends
