HR strategic conference in June
26 May 2019
This year’s annual Strategic Human Resource Conference is scheduled for June 5-6 at Gaborone International Convention Centre.
The conference will be held under the theme: Realising a High Performing Innovative Economy Through Transformative People Strategies.
Speaking at a press briefing recently, Progressive Institute chief executive officer, Mr Mmoloki Mmolotsi said, “With Botswana experiencing social and economic transformation under Vision 2036, the third strategic HR Conference brings together the biggest minds in HR and people management to re-define the role of the HR function for the realisation of Botswana’s post diamond economy,” he said.
He said the conference’ focus would be on developing cross-organisational collaboration for technological and people alignment, examining the transformation from human resource management to the human capital management function and unlocking the key to agile working. Mr Mmolotsi said the event would ensure that the HR community in Botswana and the region is ready to lead the workforce into an era of prosperity and ambition through progressive people strategies, agile working models, continuous working cultures and intelligent deployment of HR technology.
He further said they were hoping to see how design thinking is re-shaping workplace experience and organisational structure as well as to see what HR leaders can learn from customer-experience leaders.
Mr Mmolotsi expressed hope to see HR practitioners facilitating continuous learning in the workplace; how they can encourage their employees to take ownership of their learning and development.
“We expect to see HR practitioners and consultants who are strategic and transformative, not the ones who just hire and fire,” he said.
He said the conference had grown with over 300 confirmed participants and 18 speakers, eight from international companies. ends
