Tsogwane lauds departed party member consoles family

24 May 2019

Vice President Mr Slumber Tsogwane has glorified departed Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) council candidate for Mogorosi-Thabala Ward, Mr Mathata Tathelelo, as a soldier who hinged steadfastly on party principles and ideals.

Giving a eulogy of Mr Tathelelo at a memorial service in Mogorosi on May 23, Mr Tsogwane, who is also chairman of the BDP, said like the grieving family, the BDP was hurting from the gaping wound of losing a soldier, who was cultured in party ways.

He said the late Mr Tathelelo was upbeat to deliver the Mogorosi-Thabala ward to the BDP.

He said the BDP had high hopes in Mr Tathelelo, who exhibited great leadership qualities that any organisation would welcome.

Mr Tsogwane thus challenged the Mogorosi-Thabala BDP members to emulate the exploits of the departed, who was nicknamed ‘Tibra.’

Tibra, Mr Tsogwane said, was dedicated to the party, a commitment that the party chairman challenged members to emulate.

Rallying the mourning electorate to support the party to conquer in the upcoming elections, Mr Tsogwane quipped, “You have never disappointed your party that you love so much.”

He spread the message of hope and faith, reminding mourners that death was the only inevitability.

Chairman of Palapye Administrative Authority (PAA), Mr Lesedi Phuthego described the late Mr Tathelelo, as a shrewd party activist, who bore all hallmarks of a true democrat. He said he was a  ‘BDP to the core.’

The late Mr Tathelelo was described by other party members as a ‘house-to-house’ campaigner of note, who endeared himself to many and swayed voters to his side and that of the party he represented.

Mr Tathelelo’s uncle and family representative, Mr Gohenyamang Mathage described his nephew as a warrior, who was both polite and loving.

The uncle opined that his nephew honed his leadership skills by actively engaging in many social events and groups that sought to develop the village amongst a plethora of other benefits. ENDS
