15 Aug 2013
The Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism says P21.1 million was collected as resource royalty for tourism concession leases during the 2012/13 financial year.
Minister Tshekedi Khama explained to Parliament on Wednesday that tourism concession leases between private sector operators and various land authorities stipulated 4-6 per cent of gross annual revenue to be paid as resource royalty. Mr Khama said the royalty was paid to the ministry through Botswana Tourism Organisation.
He was responding to a question from Maun West MP, Mr Tawana Moremi, who had asked the minister to state the amount collected as resource royalty in the 2012/13 financial year. Ends
