Mokaragana presenter motivates pupils

Mokaragana presenter, Ms Atamelang Marumolo has encouraged Mphutlhe Junior Secondary School Form Three pupils to stay focused and study for examinations.
Speaking during a motivation event in Letlhakeng on May 17, Ms Marumolo said education played a critical role in shaping one’s careers of choice.
The presenter told the pupils that commitment to school work and preparations for examinations was their responsibility and not teachers or parents.
Ms Marumolo further said their academic results would be a reflection of their commitment, energy and preparation towards school work.
She also advised them to guard against idle time, truancy, alcohol and drug abuse because it would affect their results.
She also said humility payed and that it was an important attribute in life, adding that nothing was easy in life life and that they should work hard for good results.
“I was the best pupil during my time at school because I feared God and was a member of the Scripture Union where I got an award. I was also a prefect and the best in religious education,” she said.
She said being an artist also required them to be literate enough to understand contracts they entered into and to have something to fall back on when they did not succeed in the industry.
She encouraged them to keep learning and urged those who might not do well to try other things in life.
In his welcome remarks, the school head, Mr Meshack Sechele said motivational talks played an important role in helping pupils do well in their examinations.
He said he would like to see his pupils excel in their studies, and that bringing role models was to give them hope that they could reach their goal.
Mr Sechele added that it was also done to help the school improve its results.
He said in 2017 they were in position 201 from 218 schools nationwide, and that in 2018 the position improved as they took number 147. He added that from a quality pass of 23 per cent it went to 29 per cent.
He said this year their target was a quality pass of 40 per cent and that it was the responsibility of pupils to ensure they did better with the help of teachers and parents. ENDS
