Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority Board BERA suspended

The Minister of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security, Mr Eric Molale, wishes to inform the public that he has taken the decision to exercise powers vested in him by law and suspend the boars of the Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority (BERA) with immediate effect, pending an enquiry into the performance of the individual board members.
The minister’s decision follows an initial independent investigation prompted by reports of alleged general misconduct and breakdown of corporate governance at the Authority.
While such reports have always been of great concern to the minister, good governance required that his decision be informed by an impartial due process.
The public will be advised of any further developments at an appropriate time.
