Women can unleash power in Daughters
13 May 2019
Women have been urged to unleash the power within their daughters through speaking blessings and success into their lives.
The call was made by a motivational speaker, Ms Botho Ntswaneng at a Mother-Daughter High Tea event in Kanye on Mothers’ Day under the theme: Blossom Where You are Planted, You are Enough’.
This was the fourth edition of the event, which is the brainchild of a Kanye young woman, Ms Nayang Nkwakweng through her company Monei Events Projects.
The initiative was founded mainly to create a platform to celebrate mothers and for them to bond with their daughters. This year, there was a panel discussion on various topics such as mental and psychological health as well as child upbringing.
Ms Ntswaneng said women were naturally powerful and therefore the bond between mothers and daughters should be nurtured so that together they could move the world. She said women had been created to be elastic so that they could accommodate various challenges they go through and not break.
“Mothers and daughters are powerful beings, that is why they go through difficult situations, but still rise above the circumstances. A mother and a daughter are a landscape that shakes the world because their bond is the strongest,” she said.
She urged mothers to utilise this bond to speak positive things into their daughters’ lives as a way of elevating them. She encouraged them to claim high influential positions for their daughters in political, corporate or any other areas through the power of the tongue. She also urged mothers to encourage the girl child to penetrate male dominated fields such as Engineering, Maths and Science, among others.
She said their prayers and blessings would not only build strong future mothers, but would also benefit them as they reap from their daughters’ successes.
“God has entrusted you with these daughters, so sit with them in the inner chambers and pass that strength on to them,” she noted.
For her part, a counselling psychologist Ms Bontlebotsile Sebate hailed the founder of the Mother-Daughter initiative, which she said gave mothers an opportunity to reflect and appreciate their role in the families. She underscored the need for mothers to take care of their mental and psychological health so that they could effectively raise children.
Further, she said it was imperative for women to acknowledge that there would be challenges throughout their journey, but what is more important is how to handle them without focusing on societal expectations.
For her part, Ms Nkwakweng applauded those who attended for their support, which she said had helped the project to grow.
She further appealed to them to continue supporting her dream so that it could continue to impact even more lives. ENDS
