Member of Parliament for Serowe North, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse has donated a 16-seater mini-bus to Mabeleapudi Primary School.

Handing over the combi and a cheque for P10 000 at the school on Friday, Mr Autlwetse said he bought the combi to be used in transporting pupils with disabilities at Mabeleapudi, Paje, Tshimoyapula and Majwanaadipitse cluster known as MAPATSHIMA.

He said this would ensure that the school programme functions well, noting that he was grateful to have contributed from his personal finances.

MP Autlwetse, who is also the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, said he decided to donate a combi because he had noticed that pupils with disabilities were struggling with transport.

He stated that the combi would act as a form of motivation for more children to come forward and improve school performance.

Receiving the combi keys, the school head, Mr Alfred Ngwanabotho thanked Mr Autlwetse for the donation, adding that it would help the schools transport the pupils to and from school.

Mr Ngwanabotho said school results would be better than the previous years, especially.

He promised the MP that they would take care of the gift.

He said it was not the first time he assisted in Mabeleapodi, as he had recently donated full school uniforms to all pupil at the Special Education Unit..

Giving a vote of thanks, the chairperson of Serowe Administrative Authority, Mr Mpho Keoreme appreciated the donation, stating that the MP’s donation was a demonstration of a compassionate, just and caring nation.

He said Mr Autlwetse would never be forgotten even if he may leave the constituency.

The combi will be under council administration, which will be fueling and maintaining it as well as assisting with a driver.

A villge elder, Mr Dikgang Motsumi, who had come to witness the donation, urged parents and the private sector to participate in the children’s education, saying children were future leaders. ENDS
