Chipolopolo on Zebras menu

Botswana senior national team, Zebras, arrived home from Seychelles on May 13 after playing in the Total Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against the Pirates.

Zebras beat the Pirates of Seychelles 3-1 on May 11.

Thero Setsile’s brace and Joel Mogorosi’s strike ensured that Zebras advance on a 5-1 aggregate, thus booking themselves a date with Zambia.

However, Zebras interim head coach, Mogomotsi Mpote said Seychelles implored a different approach from their first leg game in Botswana.

“The Seychelles that played in Botswana was slow in defence and on transition compared to the quick one we played in Seychelles,” he said.

Mpote said he was happy that the players managed to execute their plan, especially that the match was more like an open game which gave them room to express themselves.

He said the team played well, despite Seychelles coming at them in the first half and forcing the Zebras to change in the second half after realising that there was no creativity in the midfield.

And Botswana Football Association (BFA) spokesperson, Tumo Mpatane said in an interview that the association was happy that the Zebras continued their good performance against Seychelles.

“We are happy they proceeded to the next round and importantly so with a big margin. We believe the transition is a positive one and we must continue to support the team” he said.

Furthermore, Mpatane said for the team to bring results, it must be supported by all, adding that their attention for now was to prepare for COSAFA Cup scheduled for South Africa from May 25 to June 8. Ends
