President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi, on May 8, visited the family of 85-year-old Ms Goaitsiwe Tshoagong who died May 3.

“Be comforted,” President Masisi told the deceased’s family in Serowe.

He said Ms Tshoagong’s passing took him by surprise since he was not aware of her ailment.

Dr Masisi described the octogenarian as a loving and selfless Christian who did well not only to herself but to others too.

He also lauded the deceased for having ensured a proper upbringing not only for her children, but to him too.

Dr Masisi, who stated that he would miss the funeral slated for May 13 owing to his busy schedule, also relayed messages of condolences from the

Masisi family as well as the first lady, Ms Neo Masisi.

When briefing the President about the death of her mother, Ms Sadinyana Marobela said her mother had been sick for as long as she could remember.

However, Ms Marobela reported that things took a turn for the worst in the past three months where at some point she was hospitalised for two weeks.

Before her death, Ms Tshoagong complained about aching legs which led her to hospitalisation, Ms Marobela reported.

It was after being discharged that her ailment then worsened and was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead in the early hours of May 3.

Ms Tshoagong is survived by six children, three men and women. She will be laid to rest next week Monday. ENDS
