06 May 2019

Employees from some departments under the Ministry for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration in the North West District have been hailed for leading by example towards implementation of Vision 2036 pillars.

The employees, who held a community service day and team building exercise in Tsodilo, interacted with the community and donated food hampers and clothes to Tsodilo community.

They also donated toiletry to a person living with disability, Mr Keitumetse Phorake.

Mr Phorake also received a walking trolley to support him whilst walking. The employees also donated winter clothes to two orphaned school going children and furnished kgotla office.

Speaking during the handing over, the deputy district commissioner in Okavango, Mr Thabang Waloka commended the employees for demonstrating love, compassion and practicing Vision 2036 pillar, which talked about human and social development.

Mr Waloka stated that the second pillar emphasized that all should extend a helping hand to ensure that every Motswana enjoyed a dignified livelihood.

He said the pillar did not only focus on public servants but it encompassed all including the community at large.

He urged the beneficiaries to put the donations into good use as they were donated with love.

The district Improvement Performance Coordinator, Mr Joe Garebagae explained that the community service day meant to interact with the community and extend a helping hand where necessary hence they decided to come to Tsodilo this year to provide the service to the community.

He said last year, the employees went to Xaixai village where they constructed a two-roomed house to one needy person while in 2017, they donated school uniforms and clothes to some needy children at Xakao village still in Okavango district. He said it was pleasing as the employees contributed money from their pocket because they were eager to make a difference in the lives of the communities they serve.

Mr Garebagae also stated that the team building exercise and community service events also gave the employees an opportunity to explore and appreciate the lifestyles of the communities.

Meanwhile, this year’s team building exercise was spiced with talk shows on daily life issues, field tracks and traditional games such as Mhele.

Giving a vote of thanks, Tsodilo Development Trust manager, Ms Nxisae Kiema thanked the employees for their noble gesture noting that the donations would make a huge impact on the lives of the beneficiaries. Ends
