Gunners top 8 chances slim

Extension Gunners’ chances of qualifying for next seasons’ Mascom Top 8 competition are now hanging in the balance after they suffered a 3-1 loss to Police XI at Lobatse Sports Complex on May 4.
Gunners, who are on position nine with 36 points, trail eighth-placed Sharps Shooting Stars by a single point in the fight to snatch the remaining slot of the lucrative cup competition.
Kekaetswe ‘Mara’ Moloi scored his 16th goal of the campaign to give Police the lead nine minutes into the match.
The former Gunners striker calmly collected a flicked pass from captain, Betsho Pius and curled a powerful finish past goalkeeper, Katlego Mbise.
With Pius, Letlhogonolo Senwelo and Uyapo Seleka controlling the midfield, the ‘Jungle Kings’ put the hosts under pressure throughout the match.
Their supremacy paid off when another former Gunners player, Hendrick Moyo doubled the lead in the 34th minute.
Moyo, who presented all sorts of problems for the hosts’ defence, received a pass on the left flank and outpaced central defender Tendai Kesekile before slotting the ball past Mbise at the near post.
Gunners put together some good moves towards the end of the first half and pulled one back through striker Ogomoditswe Sitang, who combined with Lungisani Fanyana in the 41st minute before firing past goalkeeper Lesego Bosekeng.
However, Moyo restored the ‘Jungle Kings’ two-goal advantage with a simple tap in two minutes into the second half after a good pass from Moloi.
The Gunners defence, which was suspect in the absence of captain Desire Bafana, gave away possession a few minutes later in a dangerous area but Alphius Nyambi failed to punish the mistake.ENDS
