You Live Once donates blankets to elderly

Ranaka headman of arbitration, Kgosi Moemedi Telekelo has commended members of the You Live Once (YOLO) Motor Cycle Club for donating 75 blankets to some elderly members of the community.
“We would like to appreciate and commend you for your efforts in providing warmth for our elders who are in need of blankets to survive the this winter,” said Kgosi Telekelo during the handing over ceremony on Wednesday.
He said through the donation, the club was acknowledging the importance of senior citizens and their contribution to the development of the country.
“It is very crucial for the elderly to cuddle under the blanket for warmth in winter.
There is no better gift than providing warm clothing to the needy during the winter season,” he said.
Setting out the objectives of the event, chairperson of YOLO Motor Cycle Club, Mr Olebole Kehemetswe said part of their objectives was to give back to the community, especially the under-privileged.
He noted that YOLO MCC was a motorbike social club based in Gaborone that was formed in 2016 and registered under the Registrar of Societies, adding that they had partnered with Bathoeng Trust to assist the community.
“In 2017 and 2018 the club donated 60 and 119 blankets respectively at Kanye main kgotla.
We have also donated spectacles for the visually impaired school children at Moshupa senior, Zutshwa JSS, Molefi and Ghanzi senior secondary schools,” he said.
“We have since renewed our partnership with the Bathoen Trust to divert our focus to the other parts of Botswana in giving back to the community,” he said.
Mr Kehemetswe noted that as the club, they believed that a person lived once, therefore one had to make a difference in other people’s lives.
The event began with about 100 motorbikes mass ride from Commerce Park, at the Engen filling station, where more 100 bikers from different clubs in the country participated, including some from neighbouring countries. ENDS
