Francistown Based Proideas Enterprises has donated  blankets to the elderly of ShasheMooke ahead of the coming winter.

Handing over the donation at the main kgotla, the company’s managing director, Mr Zakir UL Islam said the donation would be an annual event and that he intended to double the number to 50, come next year.

Speaking at the same event, Tonota Sub-district Council social welfare and community development officer, Ms Balebemang Molebi said government encouraged everyone to be compassionate and help the less privileged members of the society.

Ms Molebi said it was encouraging to see the business community coming forward to assist government in helping the disadvantaged members of society.

She said any help offered was a welcome development and encouraged Proideas Enterprise to continue with the good spirit.

Area Councillor Col Anderson Moalosi said Mr UL Islam and his family were good Samaritans who realised that there were some people who needed his attention. 

Councillor Moalosi, who is also the Chairperson of Tonota Sub- district, said the donation was the beginning of a long and lasting friendship between the company and the residents of ShasheMooke, which would attract other members of the business community to follow suit.

He explained that ShasheMooke was one of the villages in the Tonota Sub-district that was faced with problems such as the increasing number of the needy community members.

He therefore said it was encouraging to see companies such as Proideas Enterprise heeding the call by government to join forces in the endavour to help. Ends
