Moorad appointed ambassador to France

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has appointed Ambassador Mustaq Moorad as Botswana’s Ambassador-Designate to France.
A press release from the Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation says Mr Moorad is expected to take up his post in Paris, France this month.
“Mr Moorad has over 40 years senior level experience in a range of fields focusing on democracy, governance and multilateral diplomacy issues, in the context of his previous work as an Electoral Consultant in the last four years,” says the release.
Prior to this, the release states that the Ambassador-Designate was the regional director for Africa and Permanent Observer to the African Union for the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance for six years and has vast experience in the Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation.
Ambassador Moorad, as per the release, joined the then Ministry of Foreign Affairs as deputy director, International Relations in 1988, and served in various capacities within the professional ranks of the ministry, at both headquarters and its diplomatic missions abroad.
“These include the position of counsellor in the Botswana Embassy and Mission to the European Union, which was accredited to European Union, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Germany and Italy,” says the release.
From 2000 to 2005, Mr Moorad also served as Botswana’s Permanent Representative to the African Union and Ambassador to Ethiopia, and became Deputy Permanent Secretary in the then Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2005. ENDS
