Mataboge launch Lore le Ojwa

25 Apr 2019

A programme that aims to strengthen families, Lore le Ojwa, was launched in Maun on April 24.

The initiative, started by Apostle Nonofo Mataboge, focuses on improving parental skills in order to produce well rounded children.

Speaking at the launch, Apostle Mataboge said the programme was inspired by the challenges faced by families and children in the North West District. He said the programme targeted community leaders, saying even the Bible said without guidance the nation would perish.

Apostle Mataboge said the programme realised the importance of partnerships in bringing positive results to the community. He noted that the community experienced challenges of passion killings, child negligence and child delinquents. Apostle Mataboge said parenting skills were crucial since parents were first teachers before children went to school.

He said the programme would embrace cultural aspects that helped to guide children. In his remarks, Batawana chief representative, Kgosi Charles Letsholathebe condemned parents for failing to discipline children. Kgosi Letsholathebe complained that children dated at a young age and that parents failed to reprimand them.

Maun Police Station Commander, Assistant Superintendent Chenamo Orateng said many young people were culprits in criminal activities with some at juvenile prisons. He also urged parents to instill discipline on their children and to advise against law breaking. Kgosi Cosmos Lelathego of Moeti ward appreciated the Lore Le Ojwa initiative. He said the programme should be rolled out to different wards and schools in Maun. ENDS
