Ext. Gunners hastily reinstate Babitseng

Extension Gunners have hastily back-tracked on their decision to suspend their chairperson Tariq Babitseng after just one week.
The Peleng-based club issued a statement on April 18 last week reinstating their chairperson with immediate effect.
Babitseng was suspended on April 11 with immediate effect ‘pending investigations in respect of P30 000 missing from the club’s account and allegations of financial irregularities’.
When they suspended Babitseng, Gunners promised to approach the Botswana Police Service and Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime to carry out their own investigations in what the club deemed to amount to corruption and other crimes.
However, in a rather surprising move, the club withdrew the suspension a week later and issued an apology to Babitseng.
Gunners board of governors stated that it had met with Babitseng regarding the suspension and decided to re-instate him as chairperson.
“This was done after all facts were exhausted and reconciled. By this, the board is appealing for calm as we do hereby restore order and correct the mayhem that we may have experienced as a team lately, and peace has now prevailed as we do hereby reinstate the club chairperson,” the club said without providing much detail on their investigations.
It further said it was apologising to Babitseng, his family, supporters, players and the public.
Babitseng was elected Gunners chairperson in August last year. ENDS
