Gaosote snatches gold medal

Maun Senior Secondary School high jump athlete, Seabe Gaosote made the school proud when he snatched the gold medal from Colen Mongwa of Letlhakane senior secondary school.
Gaosote had protested the decision that was taken by the chief judge, who had declared Mongwa the winner of the senior men high jump category and it was found out that there as a tie.
A tie-breaker then had to be used to determine the winner and Gaosote managed to succeed at the jump of 1.75m after the two failed to cross the bar at the jump of 1.76m.
Initially, Gaosote’s protest was that he missed two jumps when the cross bar at the height of 1.55m leap while Colen, also representing the northern region, also missed two jumps at 1.55m leap.
The 20-year-old Gaosote used his new and innovative technique of jumping, a back-layout style to snatch the gold medal.
Gaosote had been using his style since last year when he won a bronze medal in the 2018 BISA/BOPSSA Championships when he was at junior secondary school.
“Overall, I’m fairly pleased with my performance,” said Gaosote after receiving his gold medal.
The silver medal went to Katlego Kgang of Lotsane Senior Secondary School who represented the north central region who ended at 1.73m leap.
In the senior women short put, Queen Pelagano, representing the northern region, emerged the BISA champion followed by Tshepiso Pholoso of Shakawe Senior Secondary School who also represented the northern zone.
Motsamai Segopotso of Matshekge Secondary School representing the North Central Region received a silver medal. ENDS
