All 104 transferred officers in SPTC replaced Autlwetse

09 Apr 2019

All the 104 employees of Selebi Phikwe Town Council who have been transferred since October 2016, have been replaced, Parliament was told.

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse said the reasons for transferring employees varied from cases to case.

He said some were due to the request by employees themselves, others were due to overstaying of employees in one station while some were due to the exigencies of the service.

Mr Autlwetse explained that it was prudent to transfer officers from towns like Selebi Phikwe because they were replaced by equally competent employees of the same positions and salary scales from other councils.

“Therefore, this does not have any significant negative effect on service delivery,” he said.

The minister was responding to MP Dithapelo Keorapetse who had asked the minister to state the number of Selebi Phikwe Town Council employees who had been transferred since October 2016, their positions, reasons for transfers and if they had all been replaced.

Lastly he wanted to know if it was prudent to be transferring officers from an economically and socially struggling town like Selebi Phikwe. ENDS
