Land board considers 24 applications

09 Apr 2019

Parliament has been informed that Maokane Sub-land Board considered 24 applications for ploughing fields in Lohalane in the Southern District during its October/November sitting in 2018.

This was said by the Assistant Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services, Mr Itumeleng Moipisi on April 8.

Mr Moipisi said the board rejected all 24 applications based on the fact that Lohalane was a communal grazing area.

“They were duly advised to apply for land within the drift fence, which is earmarked for ploughing fiends,” he said.

He however explained that he was not aware that people who had been hoping to be allocated ploughing land near or around Lohalane in the Sesu area in the Southern District complained of cyclical exclusion.

Moipisi was responding to MP for Kanye South, Mr Abram Kesupile who asked him if he was aware that people who had been hoping to be allocated ploughing land near or around Lohalane in the Sesu area in the Southern District complained of cyclical exclusion that denied them opportunity that came with having land that one could proudly plough.

He also wanted the minister to state a time-bound schedule to settle the matter. ENDS
