Police Systems share spoils

Police XI boosted their top four finish ambitions with a hard earned draw against visiting Security Systems on April 6.

Burly defender Tonderai Nyakuba’s last gasp equaliser broke the visiting side’s hearts as they were headed to victory following a lengthy lead for the better part of the game.

The draw also denied Systems an opportunity to hop into the top eight bracket.

Kemmy Pilato had put the visiting team on the driving seat seven minutes after the start of the second half following a nice set up from the on-form Thatayaone Ramatlapeng.

Following Pilato’s goal, the homeside were on high alert and fought for a comeback.

Nevertheless, Systems fought back and Lesego Bosekeng in Police XI’s last line of defence became the busier of the two shot stoppers.

Police winger Mpho Kgomo’s headed in goal was flagged offside.

Hopeful of a quick recovery in the second half, Police mentor, Mike Sithole rang several changes in quick succession.

Sithole made a double substitution bringing in top marksman Bonolo Fraiser and Letumile Molebatsi for Uyapo Seleka and Kgomo.

Moments later, he threw in the speedy Eliphas Nyambi for Letlhogonolo Seema who seemingly ran out of steam.

The Jungle Kings pushed numbers forward and the visiting side retreated to thwart any attempts in their danger area.

Following countless attacks, Systems goal-minder Joseph Gojamang pulled a spectacular one hand save to deny Otsile Batang’s long range effort.

Police XI continued pressing forward but were let down by indecisive strikers who shot off the mark.

On the stroke of the final whistle, Nyakuba escaped his marker and nipped in a free kick to take one point home.

Meanwhile the cat and mouse race for the BTC Premiership honours, relegation escape and top eight finish continued elsewhere on April 6.

High riding Township Rollers flew to Maun and shared the spoils with relegation threatened Sankoyo Bush Bucks.

Mochudi Centre Chiefs relegation woes continued when they succumbed to a 0-3 loss to Sharps Shooting Stars.

Second placed Jwaneng Galaxy inched closer to the top spot after a slim 1-0 victory against bottom placed Black Forest.

Extension Gunners, fresh from a resounding cup victory against Gaborone United, returned from Orapa bruised after a 3-0 loss to Orapa United. ENDS
