Lentsweletau will soon have an emergency children centre that will provide care for children to grow and develop in all areas of their lives.
A member of the emergency children centre, Mr Greg Soutter said the organisation has acquired a 4.4 hectare plot for the construction of the centre. He said the centre would care for children aged two to 16.
He said the centre would, among other things, provide care for orphaned and neglected children and those from broken family relationships.
“This is accomplished by providing them with unconditional love, a spiritual foundation and positive parental guidance,” he said.
He further said educational and enrichment programmes would be provided as well as encouraging positive social relationships and community activities.
He said the idea to build the centre came about after the realisation that most children were left with their grandmothers hence they needed a transitional home.
A representative of Lentsweletau Village Development Committee, Ms Boitumelo Tsapoga said the centre would come handy for her village, which has a high number of delinquencies, especially young people and neglected children.
She said young mothers neglected their children in the quest to look for employment and leaving them with grandmothers who were not able to look after them.
She said the centre would assist to mold children to become responsible citizens.
Rentse Foundation Trust founder and CEO, Ms Rentse Ugokwe called for support of the emergency children centre and other charity organisations.
Giving a solidarity message, she noted that charity work was not easy, but said she was courageous because of the smile that her organisation put on the faces of the less privileged.
The foundation is dedicated to providing homes to the underprivileged elderly and individuals around the country.
The foundation has been boosted by American based company called Commit Good which has pledged to build 50 houses for the less privileged families around the country.
So far, she said two houses were under construction and would be handed to the elderly in Lephepe next month.
She called on women to put their hands together to build and mend communities.
Another speaker, Ms Thea Khama hailed charitable organisations who graced the occasion, among them Ms Millennium Queens and Phenomenal Woman.
She said the work of charity meant becoming selfless in the spirit of volunteerism.
“Giving back means we are all one and we can embrace each other despite our background,” she said.
She commended Rentse Foundation and emergency children centre for giving back to the communities, adding that she would like to see the two organisations doing greater things. ENDS
