 Like any other customers, government institutions are notified of their debt by Water Utilities Corporation (WUC).

This was said by minerals, energy and water resources minister, Mr Kitso Mokaila, when responding to a question in Parliament from Kweneng East MP, Maj. Gen. Moeng Pheto.

Government institutions, Mr Mokaila said, “are disconnected in the event that they fail to pay for the service that has been rendered,” he added: “It is not acceptable for government institutions to continue to default in the payment of utilities". 

Major Gen. Pheto had asked the minister what procedure was in place for government institutions that failed to pay their water and electricity bills.

Kweneng East MP had also wanted to know whether it was acceptable for these institutions to be part of the challenges facing WUC which is owed millions of pula. Ends
