Botswana Power Corporation donates chairs computers
04 Apr 2019
Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) has donated 150 chairs and two computers to residents of Khudumelapye to be used at the kgotla and offices.
When handing over the donation recently, acting manager, marketing and communications at BPC Mr Sandy Mosarwa said it was part of their social responsibility to lend a helping hand in different communities around the country.
He said they were happy to respond positively to the request made by Kgosi Onthusitse Mosimane, who asked for donations from their office last November, adding that even though the request had a list of items they wanted, BPC had managed to pick those that they knew were of paramoun importance.
He said the chairs and the computers had been bought at a cost of P16 500 and hoped that they would go a long way in helping them achieve their goals.
Mr Mosarwa further said it was not their first corporate social responsibility activity as they did the same in Nata, Gopong and Palapye.
He added that BPC in collaboration FNBB Foundation intended to make some donations to a local primary school, adding that the corporation had also adopted Ngarange Primary School through the government initiative of Adopt-a-School programme, where they had donated some bags.
On a different issue, Mr Mosarwa said BPC management was worried about copper cable theft, which continued to cause power outages, saying currently cable theft was not prevalent in Khudumelapye.
The acting manager further advised residents to cut trees that came in contact with power lines at homes as they could cause damage and loss of property and lives.
In his welcome remarks, Kgosi Othusitse Mosimane was all smiles as he said they were lucky this year to be assisted by BPC.
He was thankful to BPC for the good gesture.
Kgosi Mosimane added that the kgotla did not have chairs while he had no computer, but now he would be able to type letters without having to go to Letlhakeng for help, while the residents would have enough chairs to sit on.
When giving a vote of thanks, Councillor Phineas Tumiso commended Kgosi Mosimane for approaching BPC for assistance.
Councillor Tumiso said the chairs and computers would be helpful to the community, especially that nowadays the world was connected through internet. ENDS
