Betesankwe clinic not in cards

There are no plans to construct a clinic in Betesankwe as the project could not be accommodated in NDP11 due to budgetary constraints, Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Biggie Butale has said.

Mr Butale said the ministry conducted weekly mobile stop services to the village where health services, including ARVs, were provided while child welfare clinic services was conducted on a monthly basis in a three-roomed VDC structure.

He said during emergencies, residents were requested to call Sese Clinic for assistance.

In addition, he stated that the ministry was aware that residents of Betesankwe travelled to Sese to seek health services as there was no health facility in the village.

Kanye South MP, Mr Abram Kesupile had asked if the ministry was aware that residents of Betesankwe were strained by having to travel to Sese to seek health services, and that at times carrying persons in critical conditions under bad weather.

Mr Kesupile further wanted the minister to state when he intended to upgrade the health post to a clinic and immediately post nurses to the village.

The minister was also to state if there were arrangements in place to respond to emergencies at the village. ENDS
