Lotsane senior motivates pupils to excel in studies

Lotsane Senior Secondary School held a motivational talk recently to motivate Form 5 pupils.

The seminar was also meant to encourage pupils to strive for good grades in BGCSE.

The school representative, Ms Joyce Bashapi, said the event was meant to prepare Form 5s for the final examinations.

She said the school’s target was to be among the top three.

The school obtained position five with a 33.02 per cent pass rate in 2018, position six with a 32 per cent pass rate in 2017 while in 2016 it registered 29.9 per cent pass rate at position seven.

Ms Bashapi, therefore, said there had been gradual improvement in the past five years and this year were aiming for a better pass rate. Lotsane senior she said was a 34 stream school with an enrollment of 712 Form 5s and 768 Form 4s.

Motivation speakers from various institutions such as Imperial School of Business, Legal Wise, and Filouis Tutoring Palapye lectured pupils on the importance of believing in themselves and that they could do well in the final exam.

They encouraged pupils to motivate themselves to enjoy classes and studies and also to seek God’s guidance and strength throughout their studies.

Meanwhile, former Lotsane students and Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) final year students, encouraged them to aim high. They explained that good grades in Mathematics and Science would improve their chances of admission at BIUST and encouraged them to aim for engineering courses.

One of the pupils pursuing training in Mechatronics Engineering, Mr Thabo Molete explained that the world was moving towards the forth industrial revolution. 

He said Botswana should not be left behind hence more students were needed in the engineering field. ends
