Kasane research installs three camera traps

Three camera traps have been installed on trial for a research project on rare angulates which is conducted by the Kasane Wildlife Research office. Minister of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism, Mr Kitso Mokaila said the motion sensor cameras, monitor animal movement especially around boreholes and water points.

He explained that the three cameras were mounted at Kalwezi, Sedudu Valley and sewage pond and the installation of the said cameras worth over P120 000 was done in-house in February 2019.

Mr Mokaila said he was not aware of CCTV installed at the Chobe National Park. MP for Jwaneng-Mabutsane, Mr Shawn Ntlhaile had asked the minister if he was aware of the CCTV and digital cameras at Chobe National Park.

Mr Ntlhaile also sought explanation on the purpose of installing such cameras, when the installation was completed, the cost and the name of the company contracted to do the installation.Ends
