Ministry of Transport and Communications recognises the strategic importance of Bokaa-Kopong road, but it does not have funds to upgrade it to bitumen standard.
Answering a parliamentary question on behalf of Minister of Transport and Communications, Minister of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism, Mr Kitso Mokaila said the road was not included in the current National Development Plan (NDP 11) for upgrading to bitumen standard.
Mr Mokaila said indeed, the Rasesa-Lentsweletau road connected Kgatleng and Kweneng districts, however, the road was not included in the current NDP 11.
MP Gilbert Mangole of Mochudi West had asked the minister to state when government intended to tar Bokaa-Kopong road given its strategic importance of relieving the A1 road and reducing traffic flow through Gaborone City headed to the western parts of Botswana.
He also wanted to know when government would upgrade the Rasesa-Lentsweletau road to bitumen standards given its importance of connecting Kgatleng and Kweneng districts.Ends
