03 Apr 2019
A Palapye-based youth company, Noise Play Entertainment, will host its annual youth awards once again.
The intention of the awards is to empower, motivate and encourage the youth of Palapye to do their best in whatever they do.
The awards, which will take place in different categories ranging from sports, music, art, modelling, entrepreneurship and other categories are expected to attract a large number of Palapye youth.
In an interview, the project director, Mr Raymond Mafoko said the awards were scheduled to take place on December 21, while registration commenced on April 2 and will go on until July 31.
Mr Mafoko said in an interview that the Palapye youth awards were intended to uplift and empower the youth and spark the spirit of unity among them.
He stated that the categories had increased to 16, adding that they were also looking forward to empowering young people engaged in businesses by offering them services that could boost their projects.
“Registration for the awards is free and contestants who qualify for the awards will be given a voting code for them to be among the nominees,” he said.
Mr Mafoko noted that throughout the voting process, transparency is assured by giving results every week or fortnightly, for everyone to know their votes.
He pointed out that the requirements for registration is that participants should be between the ages of 16 and 35.
If one is interested in competing in the business section, he said, they should have all the legal business documents needed for someone to operate a business in Botswana.
“Since we expect a large number of youth to register, we have decided to invite only the top three nominees in each category with the highest votes to automatically qualify for the awards,” Mr Mafoko said.
He said 30 per cent of the funds raised would be awarded to the winners in all the categories, while 70 per cent would be utilised to assist and provide services to youth businesses.
“Noise Play Entertainment is not only focusing on Palapye youth awards, we are also working on projects that contribute to the development of the society and to improve the livelihoods of youth of Palapye,” he said.
The co-director, Mr Mooketsi Thebe encourages the youth to ensure they beat the deadline. Ends
