Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso says the plan to relocate the Artesia Matimela kraal to Mateane was ongoing.

Ms Tshireletso, however, said there had been a delay occasioned by a protest lodged by Sebete Sa Nare Farmers Syndicate, whose borehole was located 6km away from the council borehole at Mateane. She explained that the farmers argued that the planned relocation would cause overgrazing and erode their pasture.

Nevertheless, Ms Tshireletso stated that in view of that, council was actively engaging all interested stakeholders to resolve the impasse, adding that as such, “no conclusive timeline could be set for the relocation of the kraal. Member of Parliament for Mochudi West, Mr Gilbert Mangole had asked the minister what progress had been made in relocation of Artesia Matimela kraal to Mateane.Ends
