Debswana leases land from land boards

Debswana mining has leased 108.91 square kilometres in Jwaneng mine, 268.74 square kilometres at Orapa mine, 25 square kilometres at Letlhakane mine and an additional 10.08 square kilometres.

This was shared by Minister of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security, Mr Eric Molale when responding to a parliamentary question posed by Member of Parliament for Jwaneng-Mabutsane, Mr Shawn Ntlhaile about the total mining lease area at each of the Debswana mining operations and rentals paid to each land board. Minister Molale stated that Jwaneng mine paid P200 000 to Kweneng Land Board while Ngwaketse Land Board received P117 004 annually as rental.

Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa mines paid P501 707 annually to Ngwato Land Board.Ends
